Tara Connolly. Faux Finisher. Artist.

Growing up in my household meant being surrounded and nurtured by art. From watercolors with my mother to an after school gouache painting class, my love for art grew. I knew early on that my life needed to embrace this passion. Building a career around your natural talents is the dream I am fulfilling in our new business, The Modern Patina. 

After graduating high school in Benson, Minnesota, I continued on to the University of Minnesota, Morris. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Studio Art with an emphasis in Printmaking and Photography. I do printmaking on the side, aspiring to show my work at art shows in the twin cities area in the coming years.  I also have a small passion growing with my crafting website on Etsy - building art, however small with the environment in mind brings me great joy.

I have been searching for an outlet for my hard work ethic and artistic talent since I graduated college in 2008. When I started as a painter with Unit Preparation Painting in 2009, I never imagined it would be something that would further ignite my love of art. It surprised me by opening the door to functional art. I have my niche in specialty finishes and faux finishes. I’m committed to developing my skills as a fine finisher and bringing these amazing looks into your home or business.  I am achieving this by continually developing skills through classes at the Minneapolis Institute of Fine Finishes.
